Garry and Cheryl Atchison built a passive solar house in west Edmonton
25 years ago, with a few inexpensive modifications to an otherwise
typical design. Over the years, they have paid less than half in heating
costs as most Edmonton homeowners, and you can’t beat the comfort year
		round.

Barb’s Field Notes: From red tape to green tape
		The
City of Edmonton planning department is proposing new bylaws that would
enable more use of solar and other renewable energies within our city.
This is an excellent example of where huge progress can be made in our
quest for a sustainable energy future over the next few years – bylaws,
regulations, certifications, training. Everyone has a role to play. I’ll
let you know how this plays out.
