Hello
Made-in-Alberta Friends and Supporters. Some community events over
the next week ...
Community Notice! Eco-Solar Home Tour is tomorrow – Saturday, June 5
Saturday June 5 is the 11th annual Eco-Solar Home Tour. Between noon
and 4:00 PM, five Edmonton homes and buildings are open to the
public for self-guided, drop-in tours. These buildings feature solar
power and hot-water heating, geothermal, energy and water
efficiency, combined heat and power and more. Visit
http://ecosolar.ca
for all the details.
Edmonton’s Bike Month is Underway! Here’s what’s coming up June 7 to
13...
Join Barb and the Bikeology Gears at Metro Cinema on Monday evening
for the first Bikeology Movie Monday, featuring “The Quiet Man”. (No
Barb’s Bike Shorts this week due to the length of the feature. Also,
the movies are screened at the Rice Theatre, downstairs in the
Citadel, this year.) Tuesday, visit Credo Café and join the Bike
Dialogue about racing. On Thursday, swing by the north-end of the
High Level Bridge for a free mocktail and socializing, then head
over to Harcourt House for Bicycle Jewelry Making. On Friday from 7
– 9 AM the mobile Bike2Work Breakfast is at Churchill Square, and
they’ll be serving up pancakes. The annual 24-hour bike
repair-a-thon at EBC’s Bikeworks runs from noon on Saturday to noon
on Sunday. Finally on Sunday afternoon there is a Polo Velo
tournament at Ritchie Community Hall that you can join in or just
watch (if you’re not entirely sure what this is ;). Check out the
Google Calendar on
http://bikeology.ca for addresses, times,
more details. Read event blogs on the home page.
Barb’s Field Notes – Bike the Tour!
The lovely folks who put on the Eco-Solar Home Tour have put
together two of my favourite things. In honour of Edmonton’s Bike
Month, they have created a special map of the tour just for
cyclists. To download the map, click this link. (Give it a moment to
load.)
