North American Cycle Courier Championship video info

Short Title: “North American Cycle Courier Championship”

Full Title and Description:
“North American Cycle Courier Championships & Future Fair 2001”
Feat: Rob Taylor & Friend

In July 2001, the Associated Cycle Messengers of Edmonton (ACME) hosted the North American Cycle Courier Championships on the beautiful, car-free University of Alberta grounds. Biker Bill of ACME invited the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters Society to participate. He also invited Barb Allard of RBCC to create an environmental presence at the championships. Barb was becoming very concerned about climate change and energy issues, given the recent publication of the IPCC’s Third Assessment Report on the world’s climate. She invited the Solar Energy Society of Canada, Northern Alberta Chapter (SolarAlberta) and some other local environmental groups – and the Sustainable Future Fair was born.

This event was the precursor to the first ever Bikeology Festival in June 2002, and the expansion to the month-long celebration we know today as Edmonton’s Bike Month in June. For more information about the history of bicycle festivals in Edmonton, visit www.Bikeology.ca http://www.bikeology.ca/bikeology-history/

“NACCC & Future Fair” features the music of Rob Taylor and friends, who performed for two days under the blazing July sun. Rob has performed at every Bikeology Festival since.
